New Zealand is set to see a boom in broadband wireless with the news that two more companies are planning trials of WiMAX technology. The New Zealand Herald reports that Wellington-based NZwireless and Hawkes Bay company Airnet are deploying trial WiMAX systems, which provide broadband internet services via wireless networks. NZwireless will test the technology at three sites and hopes to launch commercial services in Wellington in March. The new deployments follow announcements by two other broadband operators – National Communications and CallPlus – who are also testing the technology.
