Trinidad & Tobago-based telco TSTT has signed a co-location agreement with start-up mobile operator Laqtel for 16 mobile base stations, with another 30 towers expected to be included in the deal in the coming weeks. The contract is for five years with an option to renew at the end of the period. Laqtel won its mobile licence in June alongside rival Digicel, which launched operations last month. The new infrastructure sharing agreement paves the way for Laqtel to sign an interconnect deal with TSTT, expected in January 2006, ahead of a planned launch in March.
