SFR readies video service

17 Nov 2005

French mobile operator SFR says it will be ready to launch its 3G TV and video service by the end of this month, giving subscribers access to more than 50 TV channels and 60 video programmes. The service is available free of charge via Vodafone Live, with customers paying only for airtime used. Video and TV content includes music videos, sports clips and news broadcasts. SFR says it had 515,000 3G customers at the end of October, already ahead of its end-2005 target of 500,000 users. Rival operator Orange claims its own 3G subscriber base has reached 570,000.
