Telecom catching Vodafone

16 Nov 2005

Vodafone has once again lost ground to its only rival in New Zealand’s cellular market, with the UK-based company adding 27,000 net new customers in the three months to the end of September compared to the 72,000 won by Telecom Mobile. Although Vodafone has held onto its leading position, its market share has fallen to below 54%, down from 56.2% a year ago. Vodafone recently launched a 3G service to compete against Telecom’s own high speed offering which was introduced last year.
