Telecom Namibia has revealed plans to lay off a number of employees as part of a restructuring programme which is due to be completed next month. The telco said it has offered voluntary retrenchment packages, and expects around 150 workers to take this option. According to telecom spokesman Ferdinand Tjombe, the emergence of new technologies in the market has meant that the telco has had to downsize; the restructuring began in May.
