Indian telcos Reliance Infocomm and Bharti have struck a deal with the incumbent operator in Pakistan, Pakistan Telecommunications Company Ltd (PTCL), to lay a fibre-optic network from Lahore to the India-Pakistan border at Wagah. Pakistan is currently connected to the world via a single undersea optic fibre link, the SEA-ME-WE-3 network.
