Long-distance telcos look for change in regime

According to a report in Zaman Daily, the 44 long-distance telcos which have set up business since the market was liberalised at the start of 2004 are struggling for survival and are looking to Turk Telecom’s new shareholder, Oger Telecom, for signs that the interconnection regime will change. The new licensees claim that Turk Telecom has been obstructive in its business practices, refusing to agree interconnection charges or charging too much.
