According to the Minister of State for Finance in the Bahamas, James Smith, the government is still actively pursuing the privatisation of national PTO The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC). The process, which was originally set into motion over five years ago, stalled in 2003 when the government rejected offers from BahamaTel and Blue Telecommunications for being too low.
