Japanese cellco KDDI-ownd au Corp has contracted Motorola for its CDMA2000 1X SoftSwitch, to be used as the core switch in the operator’s 1X network. au hopes that by replacing the existing circuit switches with the SoftSwitch, it will enable it to reduce operational costs on the network.
