Motorola seals Sendo deal

30 Jun 2005

US mobile equipment vendor Motorola has signed a deal to acquire the key assets of UK rival Sendo. Motorola will purchase Sendo’s 200-strong UK and Singaporean R&D teams, including its design and test equipment, as well as the company’s intellectual property portfolio, for an undisclosed sum. The financial assets comprise 50 existing and 40 pending design patents. Sendo recently appointed corporate restructuring company Kroll to advise it following a string of increasingly disastrous financial results, as spending in the mobile handset market continues to decline. The company has just a 1.5% share of the worldwide handset market.
