Indian newspapers have reported that the 3G rollout plans of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) have hit a ‘minor technical glitch’ causing it to withdraw a tender for the supply of 3G network equipment for around four million mobile connections. Reports say that the problem may have been caused by disagreement between Chinese and European vendors over terms and conditions in the tender document. MTNL says it retains its ambition to be the first 3G operator in the country.
