O2 and NTL team up for DVB-H trials

12 May 2005

UK cellco O2 has teamed up with cable operator NTL to trial TV services over mobile phones from July. O2 will offer users in the Oxford area 16 channels sent direct to Nokia 7710 handsets via DVB-H (digital video broadcast handheld) technology. The trial will be used to determine the potential audience for TV-over-mobile, with particular focus on whether users want live streaming broadcasts or on-demand services. The pilot will last for six months.
