3G card sales outperform expectations

11 May 2005

NetCom, the wholly owned subsidiary of TeliaSonera which launched its UMTS network on 1 March, says that sales of its NetCom Connect PC laptop cards have exceeded expectations. The company has shipped close to 5,000 units since March, more than was forecast for the whole year, and the company’s sales director Morten Birkeland predicts that the 3G business will ‘explode’ over the next three years. NetCom’s UMTS network covers 76.5% of the Norwegian population; it plans to open the network for mobile phones on 1 June.
