SK Telecom has incurred another fine, this time for KRW23.1 billion (USD23.1 million) – the biggest in the country’s telecoms history – for unlawfully subsidising new mobile handsets. Rival operators LG Telecom and KT Corp are also facing fines amounting to KRW2.7 billion (USD2.7 million) for similar offences. The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) said it had found 2,449 handset-subsidy cases in SKT sales outlets this year alone.
