Filipino telco Bayan Telecommunications (BayanTel) has revealed plans to invest PHP1.4 billion (USD25.8 million) in 2005 to expand its broadband infrastructure. The announcement follows a decision by rival operator Philippine Long Distance Telecommunications (PLDT) to introduce flat-rate pricing schemes for internet connection. BayanTel, which hopes to exceed 300,000 subscribers by the end of the year, said that the expansion will enable it to roll out VoIP services to residential customers.
