USD200 million expansion plan for Sun Cellular

Digitel Mobile (Sun Cellular), the wireless arm of Digital Telecommunications Philippines (Digitel), has announced that it will spend USD200 million to expand capacity of its network from its existing two million subscribers to around six million by the end of the year. Sun Cellular is the country’s fifth largest mobile operator. It received its licence in 2000 but only launched services in April 2003; it had an estimated one million subscribers at the end of 2004, with a market share of around 4%.
