DoCoMo cuts 2005 forecast

NTT DoCoMo has cut its outlook for its fiscal full year 2005, as it prepares from its withdrawal from the personal handyphone system (PHS) market. The cellco cut its group net profit forecast for the year to the end of March 2006 to JPY722 billion (USD6.9 billion) from JPY758 billion the previous year, and says it expects to book a total of JPY61 billion in related special losses. DoCoMo will stop accepting new PHS customers from 30 April this year, and is considering exiting the sector altogether depending on usage trends.
