TD-SCDMA – what is its future?

7 Feb 2005

China Telecom is currently in talks with the government over the future of the country’s home-grown 3G standard TD-SCDMA. The company has expressed concerns over the practicality of the technology, which has failed to win support from foreign companies, and is the only 3G system which has yet to be deployed commercially. TD-SCDMA competes with the European-backed W-CDMA and US variant CDMA2000 technologies.
