Filipino operator Globe Telecom is aiming to extend its fixed line networks to Subic Bay Freeport to take advantage of the city’s newly liberalised wireline market. A report from BusinessWorld in the Philippines says that the area’s current telephony provider, PLDT subsidiary Subic Telecom, has not had its contract renewed by city authorities and Globe is one of two firms to have submitted a proposal to launch services. The other bid has come from Liberty Telecom. Globe has made the bid through its wholly-owned fixed line division Innove Communications. A decision is expected within the next three months.
