According to Colombia’s Ministry of Communications (MoC), there were 8.4 million mobile subscribers in the country at the end of September 2004, an increase of 35% from 5.5 million at the same time the previous year. América Móvil subsidiary Comcel claimed 4.75 million of the total, while BellSouth Colombia had 2.67 million and Colombia Móvil 976,492.
