BSNL has begun disconnecting rival telco Reliance Infocomm from its network after a High Court ruled that Reliance had acted wrongfully by passing off incoming US international calls as local traffic to avoid paying interconnection fees. Reliance has countered that there was no loss of revenue to either the government or BSNL because of its actions. BSNL, however, is seeking compensation of INR2.55 billion.
