Figures released by South Korea’s Ministry of Information and Communication show the country’s wireline and wireless markets are rapidly approaching saturation. The government said the number of customers to the country’s three mobile phone networks fell from 36.1 million to 36 million during August; SK Telecom remains the biggest cellco, with 18.8 million subscribers, equal to 52.1% of the market. Meanwhile, fixed line subscribers totaled 22.85 million, representing an increase of just 0.1% over the end of July, whilst broadband connections rose by just 40,000 to 11.71 million.
