Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL), India’s fixed line telco in the cities of Delhi and Mumbai, is expected to launch a broadband DSL service in November. According to local news reports MTNL will invest USD55 million in the new platform; a tender for the supply of ADSL equipment will be launched at the end of August. At launch the company hopes to be able to offer 100,000 broadband connections, rising to 278,000 by the end of the year.
