Mexican cellco Unefon made a net loss of MXN102 million (USD8.9 million) in the second quarter ended 30 June, compared to a net profit of MXN415 million a year earlier, principally as a result of increased subsidies on handsets. Revenues for the period climbed 9% to MXN1.04 billion. In terms of operational statistics, Unefon ended June with 1.33 million customers, up from 1.1 million a year earlier, although ARPU dipped over the same time frame from MXN257 to MXN235. Unefon’s network covers 19 cities.
