Thuraya Satellite selects Huawei for GPRS

Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications Company has selected China’s Huawei Technologies to deliver and install its inaugural GPRS network. Under the deal, Huawei will supply the GPRS support node, the gateway GPRS support node and the charging gateway, with the first phase of the project scheduled to get under way by the end of the year. The new network, based on a 2.5G and 3G shared platform design, will provide interoperability, increased capacity, flexible pre-paid services and an efficient charging scheme.
