Vodafone KK expands 3G coverage

Vodafone KK says that it is expanding the coverage and upgrading the network quality of its 3G service, and that by the end of June will have national population coverage of 99.6%. The cellco, which launched its UMTS network in December 2002, plans to expand 103 service areas, upgrade a further 342, and add 122 indoor coverage spots as part of a total 567 new additions. In addition, Vodafone KK is extending its reach to cover 88 Tokyo Metro subway stations and one Toei Subway station. The expansion boosts its coverage of Toei subway stations to 100%: full coverage of the Tokyo Metro will be achieved in July.
