Owners of two different mobile handset models are at risk following phone explosions last week, according to reports in the Vietnamese press. Owners of both a Samsung C100 and Nokia 8310 narrowly escaped injury when their phones exploded. The owner of the Nokia claims that his phone was an original handset with all original accessories, and was ‘in a normal state in my trouser pocket… when suddenly I heard a little explosion and my phone became hot’: the blast caused a thumbnail-sized hole in the handset and blackened the screen. The owner of the Samsung handset admitted that he had purchased the phone from an unauthorised dealer, but the manufacturer is still said to be investigating.
