Equipment manufacturer NEC saw its domestic mobile handset shipments rise by 60% to 6.08 million units in the six months to the end of September 2003. The vendor saw its share of the Japanese market rise accordingly, from 20.8% the year before to 23.7% The Japanese market as a whole grew by 27.5% to see a record 25.7 million units shipped in the six month period, more than 90% of which were cameraphones.
