Marco Tronchetti Provera, the helmsman of Telecom Italia, has laid out plans to invest EUR500-EUR600 million in the company over the next three years to ramp up its broadband fixed line offerings in Europe. According to stories circulating in the European press, Telecom Italia will roll out fibre-optic rings around a number of continental cities, which in turn will connect to the group’s existing European backbone.
