Another U-turn from 3 as it introduces pre-pay

25 Jul 2003

The UK’s first 3G operator, Hutchison Whampoa subsidiary H3G (UK), has announced yet another restructuring of its call plans, including the launch of a pre-paid service. The cellco has found that current attempts to target high-end users has resulted in it alienating the majority of UK consumers. Currently 3’s cheapest monthly price plan weighs in at a hefty GBP25 per month. New lower tariffs and the pre-pay service will be introduced in the autumn. The cellco has also announced plans to launch three new handsets in time for the all important pre-Christmas run up period.
