TIM reveals Brazilian GSM rollout plans

Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) [Milan: TIM.MI] yesterday told reporters at Brazil’s fourth annual GSM conference that it expects to be able to offer GSM services in all of Brazil’s state capitals and major cities by the end of the year. TIM has contracted Ericsson, Siemens and Nokia to supply the 2,000 base stations needed to complete the rollout. The operator expects to achieve total GSM coverage in Brazil within five years.
