Attempts by Nigerian Telecommunications Ltd (NITEL) to improve the popularity of its new GSM network have suffered a setback following news that potential subscribers currently cannot interconnect with the GSM networks of rivals MTN and Econet. State-owned NITEL, which holds a de facto monopoly on the provision of fixed line services in Nigeria, has said the problem will persist until the three companies meet to resolve disagreements over revenue sharing.
