Malta to be able to monitor communications in 2006

According to local paper The Times of Malta, the Maltese government is planning to launch nationwide ‘eavesdropping’ equipment to enable the country’s security service to monitor all communications channels including fixed line and mobile telephony, e-mail or internet. Currently only certain channels of communication may be tapped.
