Pre-pay customers required to register

Following a decree from the Malaysian government, pre-paid mobile phone users in Penang and Malacca have been the first in the country to register their subscriptions. Under a three month trial it is now compulsory for all new pre-paid customers in the two cities to register when they purchase a new pack. Existing users are also being encouraged to register ahead of the 1 January 2006 deadline for the rest of the country.
