ETECSA plans telecoms development project

Cuban incumbent Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Cuba (ETECSA) has announced plans for a telecoms development programme, under which 89.6% of fixed lines would be digitalised by the end of the year. It also hopes to increase the number of public phones in service to 34,125 by the same date, and improve services in rural areas which are not currently covered by its network.
