Microsoft to buy Teleo
According to the Financial Times, Microsoft is preparing to launch a VoIP service which will enable users to make calls from PCs to fixed line or wireless networks. As a launch pad Microsoft is expected to announce today the acquisition of Teleo, a small VoIP company, whose service will be built into the instant messaging service run by MSN. Teleo’s technology includes a feature that lets users start a call by clicking on a telephone number listed on a website, a service which could be linked to the ‘pay-per-click’ advertising model that supports Google and other search engines.
