State halves radio frequency fees
The Macedonian government has announced plans to slash the radio frequency fees paid by the country’s two cellcos, Mobimak and Cosmofon, after three years of stand-off. The decision comes after the pair refused to pay previous fees, arguing that the charges were not calculated in accordance with their concession agreements. According to the new proposal Mobimak and Cosmofon must pay an annual frequency fee of EUR1.2 million (USD1.47 million), down from EUR2.25 million previously. The government is still pursuing a claim against the operators in a bid to recover past charges.
