Softbank to trial 1.7GHz 3G base station

Broadband operator Softbank Corp has been granted permission to operate an experimental 3G mobile phone base station in the 1.7GHz band using W-CDMA technology. Softbank has been trying to crack the Japanese 3G market in recent years.
