Telenor rolls out broadband telephony

Norwegian fixed line incumbent Telenor yesterday launched its first consumer broadband telephony service, using software supplied by Hewlett Packard. For a NOK49 (USD8) monthly subscription customers can make unlimited free calls to other broadband users and call fixed lines for a flat rate of NOK0.15; international and mobile calls cost the same as Telenor’s standard fixed line call plans. The product is being offered to Telenor’s existing 560,000-plus DSL users.
