Mr Fixit Mike Zafirovski quits Motorola
Motorola’s president and chief operating officer Mike Zafirovski has announced he is stepping down from his post to ‘start considering other opportunities.’ The 51-year old joined the vendor in June 2000 as head of its mobile business and was promoted to his current role in 2002 by the then CEO Christopher Galvin. Zafirovski was widely credited with helping to revive Motorola’s fortunes, rebuilding its ailing mobile unit and overseeing the spin off of its loss-making semiconductor business. His decision comes almost exactly a year after he was passed over for the top job at the group.
