Huawei reveals global expansion plan

Chinese equipment supplier Huawei Technologies has announced plans to ramp up its overseas activities in a bid to increase its international sales target to over USD10 billion by 2008, from USD2.28 billion last year. The company already has a strong presence in Asia, Africa and South America, and is now targeting Europe - where it has established offices in the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden - and North America. In December it beat Sweden’s Ericsson to supply 3G mobile phone equipment to Dutch cellco Telfort, its first contract in Europe.
