First Windows Mobile virus found
Russian information security software vendor Kaspersky Labs claims to have identified the first virus capable of infecting the Windows Mobile platform used in devices such as smartphones and PDAs. The Moscow-based company claims the parasitic virus, called Duts, can penetrate mobile devices via email or the internet, through removable memory, via synchronization with a PC or using Bluetooth technology. According to Kaspersky, Duts infects all executable files larger than 4KB located in the ‘My Device’ root directory, but is unable to spread independently and signals its presence in the system when attempting to propagate.
