KPN to shed 800 fixed line staff
Incumbent Dutch telco KPN has announced it is to cut 800 jobs at its fixed line division as it seeks to improve on cost efficiency with fixed line useage on the wane. The operator said that 300 of the job cuts would be forced redundancies, while 500 will be ‘realised through natural wastage’. KPN will take a charge of EUR20 million in the first quarter of this year to cover the costs of the job reductions.
