1Mb: speed comes at a price

BT Yahoo and sister company BT Broadband will both launch a 1Mb service next week, offering customers speeds twice as fast as a 512kbps broadband connection. However the new services will cost in the region of GBP40 per month – more than rival offerings from AOL and Pipex - although the company is throwing in a free modem and waiving connection fees for customers that sign up online. BT customers will be limited to downloads of 1Gigabyte per day.
