SK Broadband and Symmetricom ink DTI server deal
SK Broadband (SKB), South Korea’s second largest broadband operator by subscribers, has signed an agreement that will see US-based Symmetricom provide its DOCSIS Timing Interface (DTI) server to enable the deployment of 150Mbps cable broadband services. Symmetricom will install its TimeCreator 1000, a DTI compliant server, to provide time and frequency synchronisation for the delivery of higher speed broadband services; the server will allow SKB’s network architecture to be fully upgraded to DOCSIS 3.0. Commenting on the deal, Young Il Lee, team leader of broadband network planning in the technology strategy unit at SKB, noted, ‘Symmetricom's TimeCreator allows us to deploy solutions that provide more bandwidth at a lower cost, as well as flexibility for advanced network architectures with greater options.’
