Qwest to cut staff in line with demand for services
Richard Notebaert, chief executive of US telco Qwest, told employees yesterday that the company does not plan to make the ‘thousands of job cuts’ rumoured in the press recently, but that it has offered voluntary separation packages to 600 union workers. He went on to add that the company’s policy going forward would be one of ‘constant workforce adjustment’, whereby further redundancies will be offered if demand for Qwest’s services subside, with new staff taken on should demand rise.
