AT&T president resigns in executive shake-up
Betsy Bernard stepped down as president of AT&T yesterday, little more than a year after taking up the post, as the troubled US telco reshuffled its senior management team. AT&T’s chairman and chief executive David Dorman is making the changes in an attempt to turnaround the telco’s fortunes, as revenues continue to fall amid weak demand. Bernard has spent the majority of her professional career at AT&T and in the past four years has run both its Consumer and Business divisions. She is to be replaced by William Hannigan, chairman and CEO of travel group Sabre Holdings, with a CV that includes previous executive roles at Sprint and Pacific Bell.
