Operators prepared for number portability

BNamericas is reporting that Cofetel, the Mexican telecoms regulator, has announced that all mobile operators are ready to offer number portability by the 5 July deadline. The necessary modifications to networks in line with requirements set by the portability technical committee have been completed and pilot tests were carried out on 2 July. Number portability will apply for both fixed line and mobile numbers, with Telcordia acting as administrator of the database.
