Vimpelcom reorganises to promote convergence

Russian telco Vimpelcom has made changes to its organisational structure to bring its fixed line and cellular operations together into a single business unit. The firm, which recently completed its acquisition of wireline operator Golden Telecom, says the reorganisation will enable it to offer a suite of fully converged products. Alexander Izosimov, Chief Executive Officer of Vimpelcom, said, ‘We believe that our growth opportunities in Russia depend on the development of Vimpelcom as an integrated player. The creation of a single centre to manage all business segments in Russia is a logical step to strengthen our competitive advantages as a leading integrated telecommunications operator.’
