Arcep to review state of play of WiMAX rollouts

The French telecoms regulator Arcep plans to review the deployment obligations of the country’s WiMAX licence holders, noting that in the two years since it awarded 44 licences in the 3.5Ghz band not one national network has been launched. It us understood the telecoms watchdog is keen to investigate the progress being made by 3.5GHz licence holders and whether they are meeting their rollout obligations. Any company found in breach of its terms and conditions could face the suspension of its licence, or a fine up up to 3% of its revenues.
